This was my first time at this market. I will say that this market is pretty big, has a nice array of products to buy and fairly clean too. My experience with a lot of these markets is they could have a bunch of products, but they are dirty. However, the experience overall was not great.
My wife and I wanted to get some meat and there was one customer in front of us. We were waiting we decided to look at the spices and we decided to buy a bunch of them since they have a huge stock of them. Also while we were waiting, we went to the freezer and bought one pack of frozen chicken.
We stood at the meat counter for about 5-7 minutes while their bell kept going off. Not one person of the three people even decided to acknowledge us at the meat area. One lady had her back towards us, one gentleman knew we were in the spice aisle at one point (since I made eye contact with him), but he did not look at us while standing by the meat counter and the other lady decided to talk to her co-workers, smile and laugh and completely ignore us. We decided to just leave the meat counter, because I do not need to actually tell someone; "hey can you help me when you very well know your bell is going off and we are standing there!" As we bought our groceries the guy that made eye contact with me earlier, came from the back and helped the guy at the front, which did not need help while STILL ignoring us. However, I guess he was too consumed talking to his regular customers coming into the market and make them feel welcome. After the other gentleman rang us up, he didn't even say thank you, rather he just hand me the bags and receipt and nothing more.
These are hard times during COVID-19, especially for small business and we like to support local small business, but you just lost my business for the foreseeable future. As a fellow muslim, I feel disappointed that I can't even feel welcome in an establishment like this.
