After many days searching local and the internet trying to find a replacement weather stripping for our awning window, even finding out the manufacture stopped producing this window and it's weather strip. My local lumber company referred me to Blaine Window & Hwd. This is the only place that had the OEM weather strip for my window. You would think that a universal crank would fit a Thorn window from 1955, but it didn't. There was only one insert with the correct diameter, 11/32, but it didn't have the correct number of spines. I called about returning my order and the person on the seemed mad that I wanted to return my order. She said they won't return the shipping and they're going to charge a 25% stocking fee. Then she said that I'll have to decide if it's worth sending them back. This company needs to get into the 21st century. Most other companies don't have such archaic ways of doing business. Buyer beware.
They could not search for my replacement part based on the number code stamped on the old part. They told me I had to email them High Resolution photos of the old part with measurements so their “technician experts” can determine which part I needed. I went on the stores online database, plugged in the numerical code printed on the old part, and found what I was looking for myself in a matter of seconds. Really bad service and also making it hard for no reason for customers to find what they’re looking for.
When I ordered parts from them I reached out several times to verify accuracy and I was told firmly that certain parts were going to be included in my order, when I receive the product it was missing the parts that were said to be included. When I replied back to the company they said sorry those parts are not included. The parts that I received are useless without additional parts that were promised. They don’t care to make it right, they don’t seem to care at all and are actually borderline rude in their responses. They seem like they don’t know what they’re doing. Beware.
